What is a Mobilization Ministry?
“Mobilization” is the branch of Campus Outreach that focuses time, energy and resources on the fourth of the 4 E’s of discipleship, exporting.
Success in campus ministry is not how many students confess Christ through the efforts of the ministry or how many students attend large group events or small group Bible studies or discipleship groups. Success in campus ministry is seen decades after a student graduates, it is seen when alumni continue in the faith for a lifetime. This is one aim for mobilization ministry. To be a means God would use to preserve the fruit of faith that has been born on the campus and promote lasting fruit off the campus. That they would heed Paul’s exhortation to Timothy in II Tim 3:14 to, “continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed.”
But, there is more. The word mobilization is a military term that refers to the strategic reallocation of a nation’s people and resources for the assembly, preparation, and equipping of forces for war. A mobilization ministry doesn’t seek to mobilize seniors and alumni for war between governments, but the war for the hearts and souls of people. It’s a “reallocation” of a campus’s seniors into the world to seek and save the lost ( Lk 19:10). So the second aim is that alumni would not just continue in the faith, but invest their lives in the spread of the gospel and give people personal help through discipleship (II Tim 2:2).
Why This Website Exists
Seniors graduate from our ministries and scatter throughout the country and even the world. The internet provides a unique opportunity to bridge the miles that are now between us to continue to “fan into flame” the vision for life-on-life discipleship, in a new context and more fully integrated into the church. This website exists to bless our seniors and alumni that they might in turn bless their churches, neighborhoods and workplaces with a lifetime of faith and personal ministry.
